Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak is right next door to Garden of the Gods, so while we were in the area we thought we'd hit up both spots. The weather was looking a bit gloomy so we decided against taking the cog train up Pikes. Approximately halfway, well... less than halfway up, there is an incredibly clear and deep lake where you can throw huge rocks next to fishermen and annoy them. We got just a few stink eyes before pulling the boys away from the shoreline and continuing our trek up to the 14,110ft peak. I'm still having a hard time breathing at about 11,500ft and get massive headaches once we get past the tree line. Here's to hoping that it subsides, as we plan on visiting the mountains at least once a week. The weather got nasty as we headed up and by the time we reached the top we were in the middle of a huge rain cloud, you couldn't see anything. It was still such a great time, and we're looking forward to going again and taking the train up the mountain. We ended our day with lunch/dinner at a local place called The Keg.
